ISL Pro Swim Meet
Greater DC was one of just a few areas in the U.S. that hosted a professional swim meet this year of the new International Swimming League (8 teams this year, 4 in the U.S. and 4 in Europe). AJ and many friends on his swim team got tickets to go watch the meet. And AJ was one of three swimmers from his team who served as a bin kid (moving the warm up clothing bins) on the pool deck on the last day of the meet.
Spelling Bee
All three kids advanced from their school (finishing in the top two of their grade) to compete in the area spelling bee (which is 5th-8th graders). At the local/state level there were about 15 schools and on average 30 kids competing per grade. All three kids did very well, lasting many rounds into the competition and making it to 8 or fewer spellers left. AJ finished in 2nd place out of 34 eighth graders and advanced to the afternoon spell off where he competed for one of five spots to advance to regionals. Living Grace didn't get any regional qualifiers this year, but had a strong showing by all.
Anna gets cast off
Anna acquired two small fractures playing sports at school - one in her wrist and one in her hand. This is the opposite wrist from the break she had almost exactly a year ago.
