Tribute to My Dad

Andrew Senior's Dad passed away last Saturday. Below is his biography and song the grandkids sang for him.

Toy Kock Wong, 81 years old, of Germantown, Maryland, died on September 14, 2013 of heart and lung complications. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on October 23, 1931, to Joe Youen Wong and Lin Good Lock. His father was from China, and his mother was from Rhode Island. Toy lived in Norfolk for most of his life. While traveling in Hong Kong, he met his first and only love of his life, So Sim, and they were married in Hong Kong on August 11, 1960.

Toy and So Sim ran a successful family restaurant business, Charlie Wong’s Restaurant, in Norfolk for 41 years. Toy’s restaurant business was part of a legacy of the Wong’s family, and was well known in the community. They had signature family recipes including war-mein, homemade egg rolls, dozens of other Chinese dishes, and a dash of soul food.

He moved to Maryland in 2004 to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, So Sim; brother, Joe; sisters May and Tue; son, Lindsay; daughter, Tina, and her spouse Charles; son, Andrew, and his spouse, Carmen; and 6 grandchildren, Ethan, Elias, Noah, Andrew Jr., Lia and Anna.
