AJ completed his first semester of Beginning Band as a percussionist with a local community youth band and orchestra program called the Academy of Saint Cecilia Youth Orchestra. The beginning percussion students had only 7 or 8 group lessons together and then 3 group rehearsals with the other sections prior to this concert.
This is AJ with his friend Ryan, an upper level band trumpet player who introduced us to the program.
This is the upper level band playing a sci-fi/Star Wars-ish piece that is in 5/4 time. The advanced band actually doesn't have any percussionists. The boy playing percussion on this piece was borrowed from the youth orchestra. So, the band program is excited to have a class of 3 new percussionists that will be poised to move up in a year or two.
